The Chartered Accountants (SA) Medical Aid Fund, established in 1951, is a distinctly different scheme “In a Class of its Own” – providing excellent cover, unmatched personal service and support and a real commitment to ensuring that we are here for our members. The benefits offered to its members surpass those of most open schemes, offering some of the richest, tailor-made, healthcare benefits with a holistic healthcare approach combined with an effective preventative wellness programme. CAMAF provides not only rich benefits but also gives comfort to its members owing to the fact that the Board of Trustees is made up of dedicated professionals who place a high value on good corporate governance while ensuring that the scheme retains healthy reserves.
CAMAF is a restricted medical scheme, thus membership is offered to a person who holds or held the qualification:
Please note: If you are an individual who is engaged in public practice and hold any of the above qualifications, your entire firm must join the Scheme – you cannot join as an individual member. Your firm must have an LOU with CAMAF. Public practice refers to firms that provide accounting, auditing, taxation and other services for other companies and individuals.
Individuals who have passed part one of the SAICA qualifying exams, have a valid training contract and are registered to write the second part of the qualifying exam will also qualify as members on condition that proof of exam registration is provided on request.
Firms wishing to join CAMAF need to meet the definition of a Professional Accounting Firm as defined in the CAMAF rules.
A Professional Accounting Firm is defined as “ an accounting or auditing Firm which provides any of the services provided from time to time by any of the major accounting or auditing Firms in South Africa (such firms being for example Deloitte, KPMG, PWC, SNG, etc.) or their Allied Companies and includes (without limiting the foregoing) accounting and secretarial services, auditing and assurance, corporate finance, financial management, forensic accounting, information technology, insolvency and business rescue services, insurance advisory services, management accounting, legal services, management consultancy, risk advisory and tax employees, shall qualify for membership.”
